Sherry Clausen age 64, of Doon, IA died Thursday, September 26, 2019, at her home in Doon.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 7th at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, with Rev. John Pea officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.
Sherry Lynn Clausen was born on August 21, 1955 in Hawarden, IA, the daughter of Don and Bernice (VanBuskirk) Mallette. Sherry grew up in George, IA and later graduated from George High School. She then attended American Institute in Des Moines, IA and got her degree as an executive legal secretary. In 1977, she was united in marriage to Brad Tompkins in South Sioux City, NE and they were married for nine years. Sherry later married Bill Clausen on August 7, 1987 in Wyoming and they made their home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. They were married for twenty years until Bill's death on May 22, 2007. Sherry worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for McArthur’s Sheet Metal Works in South Sioux City, NE. While she lived in Arizona, she attended the First Lutheran Church and when she moved to South Sioux City she went to a Lutheran Church there.
She loved cooking, gardening, traveling, dancing, camping, reading, socializing with friends and playing with her grandkids.
Sherry is survived by her two children: Megan (Robert) Neal of Doon, IA and Reed (Amy) Tompkins of Rockledge, FL; three grandchildren: Lilith Neal and Ella and Vylet Tompkins; brother, Douglas (Sandi) Mallette of South Sioux City, NE; and many other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernice Mallette, and husband, Bill Clausen; and special thanks to friends, Mark and Ruth Dickmann, Sarah Pine and Jerry Wyet. The “Sunday Morning Breakfast Crew” and her dog Yoshi.
