Sidney "Sid" Paul Schnepf

Sibley, IA

     Sidney “Sid” Schnepf, age 76 of Sibley, IA, died on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at the Osceola Regional Health Center in Sibley. 

     Memorial service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, September 11^th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sibley, with Reverend Terry Simm officiating. Burial will follow at Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley.

     Visitation will be Friday, September 10^th from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, with the family present from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley. 

     In lieu of flowers family prefers memorial which will be presented to various community organizations that Sid was involved with throughout his life.

     Sidney Paul Schnepf was born on August 7, 1945, in Rock Rapids, IA, the son of Arthur Paul and Ida Louise (Oehmke) Schnepf.  He grew up in Sibley and later graduated from Sibley High School in 1963.  Following his graduation from high school, he attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD, and graduated in 1967 with a degree in business administration and math.  He then enrolled in Law School at the University of Iowa for one year.  

     In fall of 1968, he began working at Schnepf Lumber with his father, brother and other family.  He worked there for forty-nine years, retiring in 2017.

     In June of 1972, Sid married Connie Kramer, and to this union two children were born, Paula Rae and Doug Owen.

     Sid loved his community where he was very active serving on the Sibley City Council, Sibley Jaycees, Ducks Unlimited, Sibley State Bank, and Country View Manor boards.  He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was named “Lumberman of the Year” by the Retail Lumberman’s Association in 1996.

     Sid enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing tennis, racquetball, and golf, and he especially loved attending his grandchildren’s activities.  During his retirement years, he liked to coffee and play pool with his friends.

       Sid is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Connie Schnepf of Sibley; two children, Paula (Jamey) Beltman of Sibley and Doug Schnepf of Broomfield, CO; two grandsons, Conner and Evan Beltman of Sibley; brother, Max (Linda) Schnepf of Ames, IA; sister-in-law, Cindy Kramer (Lea McIntosh) of Minnetonka, MN; brother-in-law, Ed Kramer of England; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dan Schnepf; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Carol Schnepf, Audrey and Frank Buysse, Rob and Ardi Kramer and Larry and Judy Kramer.
