Susan Mary Hassebroek

     Susan “Sue” Hassebroek age 75, of Hinton, Iowa, died on Friday, June 21, 2024, at MercyOne Hospital in Sioux City, IA.

     Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Jurrens Funeral Home in George, with Pastor Tim Morris officiating.  Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery of George.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

     Susan Mary Hassebroek was born on September 12 1948 in Hull, IA, the daughter of George and Meta (Hinsch) Harms.  She grew up in George and attended Wheeler #7 country school through the 6th grade and then later graduated from George High School.

     On February 9, 1968, Sue was united in marriage to Hershel Hassebroek in George, IA.  While Hershel was in the military the couple lived in Cambridge, MN and then El Paso, TX.  After Hershel was discharged from the service they moved to Sibley, IA.  Later they moved to South Sioux City, NE and lived there for thirty-five years.  They then moved to their dream home on an acerage outside of Hinton, IA.  After fifty years of marriage Hershel passed away on June 17, 2018.

     Sue worked various places throughout her life such as Excel Foods, Stinger Albertson Realty, and her favorite job was waitressing at “The Paddock”.

     Her interests included being on the Siouxland Dive and Rescue Team, boating, camping, scrape booking, and loved to research Genealogy.  Holidays where very important to her especially Christmas.  Sue also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds.  She was very proud of her grandkids and great grandkids.

     Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Bradley Ray Hassebroek (significant other, Teresa Ramold) of Sioux City, IA, and Julie Wilson (significant other, Donald Brewer) of South Sioux City, NE; seven grandchildren, Jessica Stroder, Amanda Hinrichsen, Autumn Clark, Adam Clark, Cody Wilson, Chad Hassebroek, and Hope Weverka; fourteen great-grandchildren; and other extended family members.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Meta Harms; and one brother, Charles Harms.
