Teresa Nasers age 87 of Sibley, IA died Monday, June 11, 2018 at Country View Manor in Sibley, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2018 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, IA, with Father Siby Punnoose and Father Richard Reese concelebrating.
Visitation will be Friday, June 15th with family present from 4:30 to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley. There will also be a rosary at 4:30 PM Friday evening at the funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers family wish memorials be made to Kindred Hospice of Spirit Lake, Country View Manor of Sibley, or St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
Teresa Ann Nasers was born May 16, 1931 in Webster County, IA the daughter of Albert Joseph and Anna Regina (McDermott) George. She was raised in the Barnum, IA area and graduated from Barnum High School in 1948. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Home Economics at Briar Cliff College in May of 1952 where she held offices as President of the Home Economics Club and as Class President for her graduating class. Teresa taught in the school districts of Cylinder, Palmer, and Guttenberg, IA before she finished her teaching career in Holstein, IA in 1961. On June 24, 1961 she was united in marriage to Glenn L. Nasers at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Barnum, IA. The couple started their family at Glenn’s family farm west of Sibley where Glenn milked cows. In 1968 they moved across the road to the original Fox family farm on the south side of the road where they diversified the farm, raising hogs, cattle, and crops.
Teresa was devout in her faith; an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters. Teresa had a passion of sewing and cooking for her family that started as a young girl and continued into her adult life. Traveling with Glenn and meeting her sisters at their annual summer gatherings, was always a highlight of memories cherished by Teresa. She enjoyed Lawrence Welk, Elvis Presley, and being a member of the local card club. She was always so proud and quick to share stories about her grandchildren and they loved her dearly.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Georgia and Larry Jensen of Aurora, SD; John Nasers and special friend Sheryl Hunt of Royal, IA; Joseph and Jodi Nasers of Sibley, IA; MaRita and Joel Price of Brooking, SD; David and Ann Nasers of Little Rock, IA; Mark Nasers and special friend Kelli Moncur of Sibley, IA; 12 grandsons; and 3 granddaughters; her five sisters, Alberta Walling; Rita (Duane) Stein; Helen Bormann; Alice Silverstrand; and Eileen (Hugh) Manhart; two brother-in-laws, Ray (Barb) Nasers; and Bob (Beverly) Nasers; and other extended family members.
Teresa was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Glenn Nasers; her parents, Albert and Anna George; her sisters, Mary Margaret (Gene) Stein; and Sister Annette George, OSF; and her brothers-in-law, Roy (Dorothy) Nasers; Dick Waling; Jim Bormann; and Larry Silverstrand.
