     Thomas G. Bontje, age 53 of Bloomington, IL, formerly of Larchwood, IA passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 in Bloomington, IL.

     A memorial mass will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 3^rd at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, IA, with Father Sunny Dominic as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Larchwood Cemetery.

     Visitation will be Friday, July 2^nd from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with the family present at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood. There will be a 7:00 PM Vigil service following the visitation at the church.

     Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood is in charge of services.

     Thomas Gerard Bontje was born July 12, 1967, in Rock Rapids, Iowa to Peter and Mary Ann Bontje. He grew up in Larchwood, Iowa, graduating from West Lyon High School in 1985. He attended the University of Iowa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1989.

     Tom spent the next 25 years working as a financial analyst with Allstate Corporation in the Chicago area. In 2016 he moved to Bloomington, Illinois where he was the manager of IT Finance at Country Financial.

     Tom enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams: the Hawkeyes, the Cubs and the Bears. He was also known for his skill in woodworking.

     He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann, Canton, SD; sister, Barbara (Mark) Dykstra, Canton, SD; brothers, David, Crooks, SD; and James, Arlington Heights, IL; nephews and nieces: Andrew (Andrea) Dykstra, Katherine (Craig) Hoekstra, Caleb, Joshua and Asha Bontje.

     He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Bontje and his sister-in-law, Rohini Bontje.

      He will be dearly missed by his family, and all who knew him.
