V. Starr Ferraro

     V. Starr Ferraro age 99 of Inwood, Iowa formerly of Larchwood, IA died Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Fellowship Village in Inwood, Iowa.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 6^th at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, IA, with Father Sunny Dominic officiating. Funeral Livestream Link

     Burial will follow at Larchwood Cemetery.

     Starr was born May 11, 1923, the daughter of James A. and Lenore (Hoeck) Phelan in Larchwood, Iowa.  She was raised in Larchwood and graduated from Larchwood Public School.

     On June 2, 1946, Starr was united in marriage to Angelo Ferraro in Little Falls, New Jersey at Our Lady of Holy Angels Church.  They made their home in New Jersey until 1979 when they moved to Larchwood.  Angelo passed away in 1988.

     Starr worked for the war department from 1942 to 1945 as a clerk typist.  She was a member of St. Mary Catholic church all of her life.  She enjoyed needlework, reading and making clothing. She entered many of her needlework project in the Lyon County Fair, where she took many ribbons. She also donated hundreds of sweaters and hats to the homeless shelter and was recognized as volunteer of the year.   

     She entered Fellowship Village nursing home in October of 2015 where she remained until her passing on September 29, 2022. She will be remembered as a quiet, humble, well-read lady and will be missed by her family and friends.

     Those left to cherish her memory are her brother John Phelan of Spokane, WA; sister, Judith Hill of Denver, CO; nieces, nephews, and friends.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Lenore; husband, Angelo; two sisters, Mary Ann Dobinski and Patricia Zimmerman.
