Vincent Keninger, age 81 of Sibley, Iowa died Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at his home in rural Sibley.  

A funeral mass will take place 10:30 AM, Monday, September 23, 2024 with Father Siby Punnoose, celebrating at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley.  Burial will follow in Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 22nd from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sanford Sheldon Hospice or Abben Cancer Center in Spencer.

Vincent Peter Keninger was born June 15, 1943 in Ashton, Iowa the son of William and Caroline (Hatting) Keninger. He grew up in Ashton with his two brothers and attended St. Joseph School.

On October 22, 1969, Vincent was united in marriage to Lois Jacobsma at the St. Mary’s parsonage in Ashton, Iowa. To this union three children were born, Verlin, Licia, and Lora. They made their home on an acreage near Sibley.

In the past Vincent worked at Ashton Motor Co., Farmers Coop Elevator, Dirks Milk Hauling, and International Paper/Hood Packaging before retiring in June of 2005. During his retirement years, he was employed part-time at Klaassen Realty & Auction, and also kept busy purchasing old wagon running gears and converting them to hay bale racks. He constructed over 100 hay bale racks during his retirement.

Vincent was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley. He enjoyed working in his shop, attending auctions, playing cards, and visiting with friends at the local coffee shop.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 55 years, Lois; children, Verlin (Kimberly) Keninger of Sibley, IA, Licia Keninger of Sibley, IA, and Lora Keninger of Orange City, IA; two grandchildren, Michael (Samantha) Keninger of Sibley, IA and Kelsy Keninger, Sioux Falls, SD; brother, Donald Keninger of Ashton, IA; along with extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Caroline; brother, John Keninger; sister-in-law, Dortena Keninger; nephew, Bobby Keninger; and mother & father-in-law Ernest & Lucy Jacobsma.
