     Vivian Bunte, age 87, of Rock Rapids, IA died on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at her home in Rock Rapids, IA.

     Private family service will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, February 1^st at Jurrens Funeral Home in Rock Rapids, IA with Rev. Andrew Palmquist officiating. Private family burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, IA.  

     Visitation will be Friday, January 31^st from 2:00 until 7:00 PM with family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     Vivian Bunte was born February 22, 1932 in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Cecelia (Christensen) Tangeman. When she was an infant, her family moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa. In 1950, Vivian graduated from Spirit Lake High School.

    She moved to Rock Rapids and worked at Rock Rapids State Bank. While in Rock Rapids, she met the love of her life, Don. They were married on August 20, 1960 at Peace Lutheran Church. After they were married, they lived on the family farm, where Vivian enjoyed learning to be a “farm wife”. They raised their four children, Michael, Pam, David and Diane on the farm and worked there until 1988 when they retired from farming and moved to Rock Rapids, into the home where she resided until her death. After retirement they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States for several years. Don and Vivian enjoyed bowling, square dancing and card club. They were always up for a good game of pinochle and playing games was something they enjoyed doing as a family.  She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and telling stories of her past. She greatly treasured her church family and the friendships she developed there. The profound love and devotion that Don and Vivian had for each other, as well as their deep Christian faith, carried them through many challenges they encountered during their 60 years together.

    Vivian is survived by three children, Michael (wife, Carol) Bunte of Sauk City, WI., Pamela (husband, Mike) Massa of Deadwood, SD. and Diane (husband, Will) Vander Ploeg of Hospers, Ia.; six grandchildren, James Haasch, Rebecca Hony, Jennifer (Aaron) Tabbert, Kristel Schneider, Breanna (Dan) Vreugdenhil and Brooke Vander Ploeg; nine great-grandchildren, Heidi Haasch, Trevor Haasch, Joseph Haasch, Ayla Meinder, Aiden Tabbert, Ezra Tabbert, Ivy Tabbert, Zion Schneider and Jazmyn Schneider. She is also survived by one sister, Velda Moreau, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and one brother-in-law, Lloyd Ingvall and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

    Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son, David; five brothers, Arnold, Don, Maynard (Bud), Bob and Dale; two sisters, Arlene Behrens and Betty Ingvall; one nephew, three nieces and one great-niece.
