Wanda Koger

     Wanda Koger age 87, of George, Iowa died Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society in George, Iowa.

     Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2023, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, IA with Rev. Ellen Gardner Campbell, officiating.

     Visitation will be prior to the services on Monday, September 25th at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, IA.

     Wanda Jean (Kannegieter) Koger was born March 23, 1936, on a farm north of Little Rock, Iowa.  She was the daughter of Albert and Bertha (Bruns) Kannegieter.  In 1940, Wanda and her family moved to George.  She graduated from George Community School in 1954.  On February 17, 1956, she was united in marriage to Jack Koger at First Christian Church of North Dade, North Miami, Florida.  They were in the trucking business and she helped her husband drive an 18 wheeler across the country for 29 years.  They lived in Miami, Florida and Okeechobee, Florida.  Due to her husband’s health, they sold their trucking business.  She then worked at a bank in Okeechobee, Florida for 13 years.  Her husband passed away in 2000.  She then moved back to George in 2001 to be closer to her family.  She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, Ladies Bible Study and Kiwanis.  She passed away this past Thursday morning, September 21, 2023, at the age of eighty-seven.

     She is survived by her best friend, Lois Nagel, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

     Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents, Albert and Bertha; brothers, Hank, Delbert, Robert and sisters, Matti Johnson, Agnes Kruse, Delores Colwell and Marvel Blum.
