Warren Harms

     Warren Harms, age 68 of Rock Rapids, IA died Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at his residence in Rock Rapids.

     A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 9th at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids with a light lunch at the Catholic Church following the service.

     Public visitation will be Friday, October 8th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids.

     Warren Gene Harms was born on June 15, 1953 in Hartley, Iowa, the son of Earl and Alta (Hollander) Harms. He grew up on a family farm and attended Excelsior Elementary School, Harris Middle School and graduated from Lake Park High School.

     After graduation he moved to Sibley and worked briefly at the Doon and Allendorf Elevator. He continued his education at Northwest Iowa Tech in Sheldon where he received his training as a general electrician. He then worked for Otter Valley Electric and Rozenboom Machine & Tool, as an electrical maintenance technician.

     Warren was united in marriage to Twila (Kruse) Johnson on November 4, 2000 in Rock Rapids, IA. Together they lived in Doon before moving to Rock Rapids in 2014. Warren worked at Grand Falls Casino from 2010 until he retired in 2017.

     Warren was an avid NASCAR, Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings Fan. He also enjoyed listening to music, especially Rock & Roll. Warren and Twila enjoyed trips to Arizona and most recently a boat ride on the Mississippi River.

     He is survived by his wife of almost 21 years, Twila Harms; son, Chris (Lindsay) Harms and their children, Ashley, Emily and Natalie; five step-children, Rob (Susanne) Johnson and their children, Sierra, Payton, Jaxsen and Jayda, Raymond (Laurel) Johnson and their children, Lucas, Ryland and Emersen, Shellie Jacobsma and her daughter, Elena, David Jacobsma and his son James, Heidi Jacobsma and her children, Scotty and Courtney; four siblings, Dennis (LeAnn) Harms, Lorna (Ed) Swanson, Keith (Dorothy) Harms and Calvin (Joni) Harms; in-laws, Idel (Keith) Woodruff and Harlan “Butch” Kruse, Marge (Rich) Lorenzen, Eldon (Deb) Kruse and Ken Nagel; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Alta Harms; sister, Sharon Schmidt; two sisters-in-law, Arlys Nagel and Faith Kruse; parents-in-law, Harry and Donna Kruse; and a niece-in-law, Lori LaCour.
