Wilhelmina "Mina" De Vries

     Wilhelmina “Mina” DeVries age 98 of Rock Rapids, Iowa died Friday, June 30, 2023 at Lyon Specialty Care.

     Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at the Christian Reformed Church in Rock Rapids (where she has been a member since birth) with Pastor Doug DeGroot, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery at Rock Rapids.

     Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Wilhelmina (Mina) Doeksen DeVries died on June 30, 2023 at the age of 98. On January 26, 1925, Mina was born in rural Rock Rapids to William and Bertha (Bosch) Doeksen.  Mina was raised and attended school through the tenth grade in Rock Rapids. Bill De Vries met Mina in youth group at church and on September 26, 1944 they were united in marriage. She was employed by Home Plate Cafe, HiWay Lunch, Florian's, Arlington Farms, Hess Bakery, Golden Crust Bakery, Dr. Fisch's Dental Office and the Rock Rapids State Bank. Mina retired from the bank in 1987. Even in retirement she was busy and enjoyed working, sewing and crafting. She often delighted her family with her delicious baked goods. 

Mina is survived by her two daughters: Nancy (Bill) Black of Oelwein and Glenda (Jay) DeBoer of Rock Rapids. Her family includes seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and one sister, Bertha Fikse. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill and her siblings: baby Peter, Bill, John, Fannie, Duke, Pete, and Kathryn. 

 Nancy and Glenda would like to thank the staff at Lyon Specialty Care and Avera Hospice for their loving care for their mom over the last few years.
