Wyona Drenth

NOTICE: Ellsworth, MN        Wyona Drenth age 87 of Ellsworth, MN Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Park View Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth.           Funeral services will be 2:00 Friday, April 27, 2018 at Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN, with Rev. Paul Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Reformed Cemetery in rural Little Rock, IA.        Visitation will be Thursday April 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with the family present at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.     Wyona was born October 1, 1930 in Lennox, SD to Rev. Onno J. and Reka (Huisman) Snuttjer.  She was raised in Lennox, SD and graduated from Platte, SD High School in 1948.  She attended Central College for one year and began teaching country school in Liberal Township near George, IA.   On June 15, 1951 she was united in marriage to Edward Drenth and the couple lived and farmed south of Ellsworth, MN nearly all their lives. Edward died in 2009 but Wyona remained on the farm, active in its management. Wyona’s father was a Pastor and Wyona grew up in the church learning to play the organ. She also played piano and marimba. She shared her musical ability with Bethel Reformed and Zion Presbyterian Churches of Ellsworth, and First Presbyterian Church of Luverne, MN and encouraged the music education of her children and grandchildren.  Her family describes Wyona as patient and organized, steeped in the Christian faith, and loving music, nature, sewing, gardening and canning. She also loved word games and educational pursuits. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed.           She is survived by six children, Eileen and her husband, Dennis Sohl of Greeley, CO; Steven Drenth of Cypress, CA; Rodney Drenth of Ellsworth, MN; Judith Drenth and her husband, Douglas Anderson of Burnsville, MN; Lora Drenth and her husband, David LaTourelle of Hager City, WI; and Mark Drenth of Jackson, MN.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, David (Janel) Sohl, Daniel (Mindy) Sohl, Morgan (Patrick Williams) Polley, and Karl Polley; and four great-grandchildren, Carter, Elaina, Grant and Finley Sohl; one brother, Norman (Ann) Snuttjer, and many other extended family members.            Wyona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edward Drenth; brothers, Owen (Peggy) Snuttjer and Paul (Marianne) Snuttjer.
