     Yvonne A. Leonard, age 84 of George, IA left us peacefully on November 29, 2020 at Whispering Heights Care Center in Rock Valley, IA to join the angels in heaven.

     Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Church at Boyden, IA with Rev. Mark Jamison officiating.

     Visitation without the family present will be Sunday, December 6^th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church at Boyden, IA.

     Yvonne Anna (Kruse) Leonard was born during a blizzard April 3, 1936 to Walter and Elsie (Hensch) Kruse in Sheridan Township, IA.  She grew up with 5 sisters and 2 brothers in the Boyden-George area.  She went to St. John School and enjoyed playing shortstop for the school team.  She worked at Mary's Place where she met a fellow.  Six months later, they were married.  They had a son and moved to Houston, Texas.  When things didn't work out, she moved further south to Kingsville and worked for a pipeline company.  A Navy airman swept her off her feet and took her to faraway places like Tennessee, Maine, Maryland, and Virginia.  Along the way came 3 daughters.  As a military wife, she had moving down pat.  Yvonne returned to her home state in 1977.  Retiring from Frigidaire gave her more time for crocheting, baking, and volunteering at the local school.  Slowly Parkinson's robbed her of her get-up-and-go attitude, but she stubbornly fought back.

     Family left behind to cherish her memories are her children, Kevin (Lisa) Welch of Sheldon, IA and Annette (Dale) Grantham of Winlock, WA; siblings, Eunice (Maynard) DeBoer of Archer, IA; Phyllis (Odean) DeJong of Hull, IA; Carolyn (Leon) Korthals of Boyden, IA; Jolene (Paul) Peterson of Honolulu, HI; Donna (Kenneth) Rohde of Boyden, IA; Leland (Norine) Kruse of George, IA; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Diane Kruse.

     Yvonne was preceded by her parents, Walter and Elsie; her brother Marlin and her two daughters Patricia and Linda Clemente.
