Catherine "Cathy" Dagel

Sibley, IA

     Catherine “Cathy” Dagel age 63, of Sibley, IA passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Memorial service will be planned at a later date.

     Catherine Viola Dagel was born on November 21, 1959, in Coon Rapids, MN, the daughter of Wilburn and Irene (Hoffermann) Peel.  She attended school in Coon Rapids and later obtained her GED from Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, IA.

     Catherine was later united in marriage to Gary Dagel on December 2, 1977, in Sibley, IA. Catherine and Gary adopted a child, Margaret Jakobson (Dagel) out of Worthington, MN. Catherine worked for many years at Sathers Candy Company in Round Lake, MN and later worked at a few different homes taking care of the mentally hadicapped adults.

     Catherine was member of the First Baptist Church in Anoka/Coon Rapids, MN. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. She also enjoyed a wide variety of music as well as drawing and painting along with playing cards and doing puzzles.

     Catherine is survived by her husband of 46 years, Gary Dagel of Sibley, IA; daughter, Margaret Jakobson (and special friend, David Case) of Sibley, IA; three grandchildren, John, JoAnn and Ryker; eight siblings, Gary (Carol) Reimer of Sibley, IA;  Jane (Jimmy) Quinehan of Anoka, MN, Donald (Deb) Peel of Anoka, MN, Sandy (Dan) Croatt of Worthington, MN; Kim “Pug” (Mary) Peel of Brooklyn Park, MN, Kent “Squeak” (Kathy) Peel of Minneapolis, MN, Debra (Steve) Barber of Atlantic, IA, and Phillip (Linda) Peel of Logansport, IN; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilburn and Irene Peel; brother, Steve Reimer, and sister, Pat Whitng.

She is so loved and is very much missed by all.
