  Graveside Services for Debra Zell, age 69 of Rock Rapids, IA, who passed away on Friday evening, March 17, 2023 in Rock Rapids will be held at 11AM Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids.

  Debra (Debbie) Elizabeth Zell age 69, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

     A short celebration of life service (gravesite) at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids with Rev. Teisa Nicole, officiating.  Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids is in charge of services.

     Debra (Debbie) Elizabeth Zell was born on July 1, 1953, in Rock Rapids Iowa, the daughter of John and Joyce Ver Meer. She attended/graduated from Central Lyon school and loved her family deeply. An avid collector of owls, Debbie was known for her feisty personality and legendary owl stockpile.

     Debbie was united in marriage on July 6, 1974, to Roger Miller.  Early on Debbie and Roger were blessed with two daughters.  After much traveling as an Air Force family, Debbie longed to return to her childhood home. After divorcing her first husband, Debbie remarried Lonnie Zell on April 6, 1992 at Omaha, NE. Debbie and Lonnie moved to Rock Rapids in 1994 working various jobs and loved being close to family.  Lonnie Zell passed away in 2015 at 81 years old.  Debbie continued to live at her personal home in Rock Rapids till her health began to decline.

     In September 2019, Debbie entered the Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, IA, where she remained until her death, this past Friday, March 17, 2023 at the age of 69.

     She is survived by her two daughters, Tonya Ann (and son-in-law) Bryan McCormick (Commerce GA) and Teisa (and son-in-law ) Jean Nicole of Manila, Philippines; nine granddaughters: Ashlee Davis (Wichita KS) and Jesica McCormick (Orlando FL)  Kaylii Avila, Mkaila McCormick, Kaia McCormick, Jordyn McCormick (Commerce GA) and Johanna Nicole, Gloria Nicole, Victoria Nicole (Manila, Philippines),) and four great-grandchildren; brother, Rodney John Ver Meer (Rock Rapids, Iowa); sisters, Beverley Pluger (Rock Valley, Iowa) and Sonjia Ver Meer (Rock Rapids, Iowa) and other extended family members.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Joyce Ver Meer, and  2nd  husband, Lonnie Zell.
