Jan Moon

Janet Rae Moon was born on March 31, 1942, and passed away on June 24, 2024, at the age of 82.  She was the fourth daughter born to Florence (Yeager) Erickson and Herbert Erickson in Boone County, Iowa.  She lived in the Stratford, Iowa area until she was six years old and then the family moved to Boone, Iowa, where she attended Boone schools.

Janet later married Ron Moon and they traveled extensively while he was in the service.  They divorced and then she owned her own fabric shop in Lake View, Iowa and was an excellent seamstress.  During this time, she met Al Mohr and became the bookkeeper for his business, Al’s Plumbing and Heating.  They later moved to Sanborn, Iowa with the business.  In later years, they retired and moved to Melvin, Iowa.  She loved antiques and had quite an assortment of collectibles and antiques.  She also loved movies and had a large library.  

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Robert Browning; two sisters, Jacqueline Anfinson of Bend, Oregon, and Kay Medeiros of Mesa, Arizona; first husband Ron and second husband Al.

Janet is survived by one sister, Delores Mosman of Boone, Iowa; a half sister, Diane; two stepbrothers, Rodger and Ronnie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The last six months of her life she was a resident at Prairie View Home in Sanborn, Iowa where she passed away.

A graveside service will take place at a later date.
