Jay Newman, age 63, formerly of Ashton, Iowa died on December 15, 2022, at his residence in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Funeral service will take place Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Jurrens Funeral Home in Sibley, with Reverend Tim Nappe, officiating.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Holman Township Cemetery of Sibley.

Jay was born to Douglas and Joann Newman on September 14, 1959 in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Jay is survived by his son Nathanial Newman, Seattle, WA, mother, Joann Newman of Sioux Falls, SD, brothers Todd and Cory Newman of Dallas, TX, and other family members both in Texas and Washington State.

After graduating from Sheldon High School and the University of Northern Iowa, Jay pursued a career in Banking in the Dallas and Seattle areas. He later got involved in the golf simulator industry in the Sioux Falls area.

Jay will be remembered for his love of the outdoors. He spent his time in Washington hiking, summiting mountains, kayaking, and camping with his extended family. He had a love of golf and woodworking.

Jay will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be sent to the National Park Foundation.
