      Michael "Mike" Johnson age 74, of Ashton, IA died Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center at Sheldon, IA.

     Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Ashton Legion Hall in Ashton, IA with Rev. Dale Lint, officiating.

     Visitation with the family present will be Thursday, May 13^th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Ashton Legion Hall in Ashton, IA.

     Michael William Johnson was born December 23, 1946, on a farm near Allendorf, IA the son of William and Clara (Wiersma) Johnson.  Michael attended public school in Ashton.  Michael was united in marriage to Donna Strouth on July 15, 1978 at Sibley IA.  During his life he worked for various businesses in northwest Iowa.  He drove truck for many years, hauling milk and later livestock for Charlie Molitor.  He worked for Hallett Gravel on the dragline, the elevator in Ashton as a mechanic and for 18 years before he retired, he owned and operated the Palms in Ashton.  During his retirement he helped at the elevator in George and mowed at the Sibley Country Club.  Michael enjoyed gardening, golfing and taking rides around Ashton with his pet JoJo.  Michael died this past Sunday afternoon at the Sanford Medical Center in Sheldon at the age of seventy-four.  He will be greatly missed.

     He is survived by his wife, Donna of Ashton, IA; his daughters, Jessica (Kevin) Magnussen of Basehor, KS; Amanda Johnson of Melvin, IA and Becky (Travis) Monier of Ashton, IA; grandchildren, Keira, Johnna, Ava, Fisher and Malaina; siblings, Diana (Lloyd) Warr of Wichita Falls, TX; Ben (Marsha) Johnson of Salem, SD; Gordon (Diane) Johnson of Canton, SD; Debbie Johnson of Lakeville, MN; Rick (Joy) Johnson of Villisca, IA; sister-in-law, Peggy Johnson of Melvin, IA; Kelly (Mary) Johnson of Ashton, IA and Jeff (Ona) Johnson of Guernsey, WY and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

     Michael was preceded in death by his parents, William and Clara; infant brother, Allen; infant sister, Joyce; sister, Barbara Kenedy; brother, Ken Johnson and brother, Phil Johnson.
