Patricia “Pat” Johnson, age 73 of George, Iowa passed away Monday, October 9, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

A visitation will take place on Sunday, October 15th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at First Baptist Church, rural George, Iowa.

A funeral service will take place at 10:30 AM Monday, October 16, 2023, at First Baptist Church.

Patricia “Pat” Johnson was born February 17, 1950, the third of four daughters born to Harvey and Ethel (Hassebrook) Trei, in Sibley, Iowa.  She was raised on a farm south of Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1968.  She continued her education at Mankato Commercial College.

On November 20, 1970, Pat was united in marriage to Bob Johnson.  To this union, three children were born, Kim, Mike, and Kari.  They lived in Sibley, Iowa for five years before moving north of George in 1975 to their home they built together. Over the years she enjoyed planting and tending to her beautiful home and garden. Any plans or projects she dreamed up were lovingly carried out by her husband, Bob.

Pat worked at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in George as an activity assistant.  She loved providing music by playing piano, reading stories and connecting with the residents.  She retired in 2012. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in rural George. Throughout the years she served in many capacities including Awana, Christian Hour Circle, and Music.   

During her time in hospice, Pat coined the term “3 Fs”: Faith, Family, Flowers.  If someone repeated it back to her and got the order wrong, she was quick to remind them that Faith always comes first. She enjoyed gardening, providing for and serving others, working on home projects, and traveling with Bob.  She loved her family deeply and cherished any and all family gatherings.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Bob; children, Kim (Kurt) Weeks of Spencer, IA, Mike (Andrea) Johnson of Little Rock, IA, and Kari (Terry) Bruinsma of Spirit Lake, IA; ten grandchildren; siblings, Dianne (Lloyd) Gruis of Sibley, IA, Barbara (Tom) Galles of LeMars, IA, and Cindy (Alfonso) Scandrett of Greensboro, NC; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ethel Trei; father and mother-in-law, Sylvester and Elizabeth Johnson; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Johnson.
