     Robert E. Wulf, age 79 of Larchwood, IA died Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids, with Reverend Alex Sloter officiating.

     A private burial with immediate family will take place following the service and other extended family and friends are invited to the Wulf residence, where a meal will be served. Military honors will be presented by the Flessner American Legion Post No. 561 of Larchwood.

     Visitation will be Friday, September 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family present at the Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids.

     In lieu of flowers family prefers memorials be directed to LEMS (Larchwood EMS), Sheldon Hospice Home Health of Sheldon, IA or Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Arrangements for Robert Wulf are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood, IA.

Robert Emil Wulf was called to heaven on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the age of 79.

Robert Emil Wulf was born on November 20, 1942, in Stevens County, MN, the son of Emil Henry and Elizabeth (Moser) Wulf. He grew up in Larchwood and later graduated from West Lyon North High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1964 to 1966.    

On May 6, 1967, he married the love of his life Linda Lou Hinckley in Armour, South Dakota. To this union six children were born, Kelly, Kathy, Jason, Denise, Renee, and Heather.

Faith, family and hard work were the foundation of Robert’s life. After his duty was complete in the U.S. Army, he traveled the state of South Dakota building many of the roads we travel on today. If ever you had a question about how to get somewhere, you could rely on Robert to know the road and every town you would go through. Very seldom did he take the Interstate.

Being on the road was not the best job to raise a family, and in 1968 he took his work ethic and new bride to Mitchell, SD and spent some time on a mink ranch. In 1972, they moved their then small family back to Larchwood, IA and started Wulf Bros LTD with his brothers. They lived in Larchwood until 1980 and then moved to an acreage outside of town, which is still called HOME.

Robert loved “dirt work”, as he would call it. Being on his dozer and shooting the breeze with his customers is where he shined. You could always count Robert to tell it like it was.

Along with “dirt work”, Robert took on several other hobbies. After moving to the farm, he decided to try his hand at “pigs”, of which no one was happy but him. He also began planting crops in the 4 ½ acres that

surrounded them. With 6 kids running around it gave them many chores to do. Teaching them what hard work was about and that they should never take anything for granted.

Later in life, Robert decided to try his hand at being a cattle man. This became a passion for Robert until the very end. He would talk about cattle to anyone that would listen. His idea of vacation was going to check “his cattle”, in Nebraska, South Dakota, Minnesota or right up the road. Robert and Linda would hop in the pickup and go.

Robert also enjoyed fishing with his family. There are many fishing stories to be told by the Wulf’s young and old.

Robert will be remembered for many things and his faith in Jesus was at the heart of it. He was a member of English Lutheran Church in Larchwood, IA and served any way he could.

He believed in doing the right thing even when it was hard. He taught us to tell the truth even when the outcome wasn’t good, and he provided for his family during the hardest of times without ever complaining.

Robert spent the last months of his life enjoying the thing most important him, his family and in the end continued to touch the lives of everyone he had contact with.

Those left to cherish Robert’s memory are his wife of fifty-five years, Linda Wulf of Larchwood, IA; six children, Kelly (Bart) Wittnebel of Nassau, MN Kathy (Michael) Wulf-Tays of Sartell, MN Jason (Christine) Wulf of Crown Point, IN Denise (Alessandro) Molteni of Houston, TX, Renee (Andy) Miller of Iowa City, IA and Heather Wulf (Patrick Morris) of Washington DC, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; nine siblings, Helen Sharp, Leo (Wanda) Wulf, Kenneth Wulf, Donald (Cathy) Wulf, Ronald Wulf, Betty (Mike) McDonnell, Clifford (Carol) Wulf, Ray (Tina) Wulf, and Lloyd (Juanita) Wulf; sister-in-law, Jo Wulf; nieces, nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil, and Liz Wulf; brother, Floyd Wulf; brother-in-law, William Sharp; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Wulf and Jan Wulf; nephew, Wade Wulf; and step-grandchild, Jamie Walenta.
