Shirley L Klosterman

Shirley Klosterman, age 94, passed away on January 2, 2023 at Country View Manor in Sibley, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 11, 2022 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Sibley, Iowa with Fr. Kevin Richter, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will take place, Tuesday, January 10th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a 5:00 PM rosary at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Andrews Catholic Church or the Village Northwest in Sheldon or the Donors choice.

Shirley was born in Worthington, MN to R.D. and Hazel (Birney) Mayer. She grew up on a farm near Bigelow, Mn.

Shirley married Donald Klosterman on February 14, 1949 in Sibley. Shirley and Don farmed for many years near Sibley and were active in the community. Shirley was an active 4-H leader for many years. In addition, she was an active member of the Catholic Daughter of America for over 60 years and was recognized as a Catholic Daughter of the year. In retirement they spent their time in the Desert Sun community in Apache Junction, Az.

She was preceded in death by Donald Klosterman (Spouse), R. D.  Mayer (Father), Hazel Mayer (Mother), Max Mayer (brother), and Gary Zandstra (son-in-law)

Shirley is survived by sisters Norma Banzhaf (Roger) of Berthoud, Co., Doris DeBoer (Gary) of Little Rock, Ia. and Georgia Mayer (sister-in-law) of Jackson, Wy.

Kelly Klosterman (Christopher Lynch) granddaughter, Minneapolis, Mn, Michael Klosterman- grandson- Fridley, Mn, Adam Klosterman-grandson -Spring Lake Park, Mn, Ronan Lynch-great-grandson, Minneapolis, Mn., Noel Shaffer - granddaughter, of Council Bluffs, Andrew Shaffer - grandson, of Kansas City, MO, Noami Zandstra-Langsjoen (Josh Kunz)- granddaughter, John Zandstra - grandson, Juliet Langsjoen - great-granddaughter, Reimann Kunz - great-grandson, Richard Kunz - great-grandson, Lila Kunz - great-granddaughter.
